We celebrated Mimi's birthday at the beginning of the month. The sibs and I got mom a Kindle Fire. I am excited for her to get to know how to use it and enjoy her purse-sized technology. We went out to dinner at North Beach Bistro. Jack and Lucy were perfect little angels... by the grace of God.
Lucy's world is changing... she sits up with perfect posture now. I love this age. I can sit her on the floor with a few toys and she entertains herself for longer periods of time. Isn't this the happiest babe you have ever seen? Oh, and she discovered her tongue. It is out a lot! Bath time is more fun now, too. I do hear this a lot now though: "Wucy, stop spwashing!"
Lucy has also been introduced to baby food. She is not a big fan... yet. We nicknamed her "Lock-jaw Lucy" because as you bring the spoonful of food to her lips she purses them and won't let anything in! These pictures were taken in the last couple of weeks... if she looks to be enjoying the food.. I assure you, she is not. In the last few days she has been starting to actually open her mouth for food and is eating more. It was a challenge in the beginning, though.
We have had a rough few weeks this month. Jack and Lucy were both sick. Jack had an infection in his throat and a fever for a week straight. Lucy also had some fever and her first ear infection. We had 4 trips to the doctor in 2 weeks, antibiotics and several sleepless nights. Just as soon as they were getting better Mom took an ugly spill on a freshly mopped kitchen floor and spent the weekend in the hospital. She is home now and recovering, but uncomfortable. Basically, it has been a stressful few weeks...
So today when I got home from work I found such joy in watching Jack play. First of all, it feels like summer out. It was beautiful, sunny, and warm. Jack was rosy cheeked and sweaty. He and Emma and Summer started running through the sprinkler. They giggled, squealed, got soaking wet, and had so much fun. It was the absolute best part of my day. I ran in to get the camera.
